It is odorless or has a slight benzoin smell. It tastes slightly sweet and has astringent taste. The relative molecular mass is 144.12. It is stable in the air and easily soluble in water. The pH of its aqueous solution is 8, and it is soluble in ethanol, glycerol and methanol.
Application:
Sodium Benzoate Powder CAS NO.:532-32-1 is used as a food additive (preservative), a fungicide in the pharmaceutical industry, a dye mordant, a plasticizer in the plastic industry, and an organic synthesis intermediate for spices.
Sodium benzoate is a preservative. It has antibacterial and antibacterial effects under acidic conditions. It is most widely used in acidic foods, such as salad dressings, carbonated drinks, soy sauces, sauces, preserves, fruit and vegetable drinks, jams, pickles and condiments.
