Self-aligning roller bearings are mainly used to withstand radial loads, and they can also bear a certain amount of axial loads, but generally cannot withstand pure axial loads. The raceway of the outer ring of this type of bearing is spherical, thus it has self-aligning performance. When the shaft is bent or tilted, causing the centerline of the inner ring to be inclined relative to the centerline of the outer ring by no more than 0.5° to 2°, the bearing can still operate normally. Its structural principle and characteristics are the same as those of self-aligning ball bearings, with the only difference being that the rolling elements are spherical rollers. Due to the difference in rolling elements, it has a greater load-carrying capacity and is widely used in mining and heavy machinery. This type of bearing can limit the axial displacement of the shaft or housing within the axial clearance range of the bearing. Self-aligning roller bearings and self-aligning ball bearings can be used interchangeably when their capacity and limiting speed permits are met.
