Its core characteristics have three points: first, cost advantage, easy availability of raw materials and simple processing technology, significantly lower unit price than steel and plastic pallets, suitable for budget sensitive or one-time/short-term use scenarios; Secondly, it has strong adaptability, moderate weight (usually 15-30kg), is compatible with various handling equipment such as forklifts and ground oxen, and has high surface friction, making it difficult for goods to slide when stacked; Thirdly, it has environmental protection properties. Natural wood is biodegradable and can be recycled and reused after being scrapped (such as processed into sawdust and fuel), which meets the environmental protection requirements of some industries.
The mainstream types are divided into solid wood pallets (with stronger load-bearing capacity, suitable for heavy goods) and plywood pallets (without fumigation, more convenient for cross-border transportation) according to materials. According to standards, they can be divided into European standards (1200 × 800mm), American standards (1200 × 1000mm), etc. However, it should be noted that solid wood pallets used for cross-border transportation must comply with ISPM 15 standards (fumigation or heat treatment) to avoid carrying harmful organisms; And long-term use is susceptible to moisture and insect infestation, with a lifespan of usually 1-2 years and requiring regular maintenance.
