From the supplier
Graphene composite fabric: Typically composed of an outer layer of antimicrobial and antiviral protective fabric, a middle layer of highly breathable, high-barrier antiviral protective membrane, and an inner layer of antimicrobial, moisture-wicking, quick-dry fabric. The outer layer, such as four-way stretch protective fabric, is woven from core-spun yarns and conductive fibers. The core-spun yarns contain graphene-infused nylon fibers and elastic fibers. The middle layer is typically a PU microporous membrane with an asymmetric cavity structure. The inner layer may be an elastic fabric woven from graphene-infused nylon fibers, among other options.
Performance Characteristics
Antibacterial and Antiviral Properties: Graphene's unique two-dimensional surface chemistry and sharp physical edge structure enable it to inhibit or kill bacteria through a synergistic mechanism combining trapping/encapsulation, physical cutting, and oxidative stress. It achieves over 99% antibacterial efficacy against common pathogens like E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida albicans without inducing bacterial resistance. It also provides significant barrier and inhibitory effects against viruses.
Barrier Properties: The intermediate layer features a highly vapor-permeable, virus-protective membrane with pore sizes ≤800 nm at the interface with the outer antimicrobial/antiviral fabric and 1-2 μm at the interface with the inner antimicrobial, moisture-wicking, quick-dry fabric. This effectively blocks the penetration of viruses, bacteria, blood, and bodily fluids.
Moisture Permeability: The fabric exhibits excellent moisture permeability. For instance, the PU microporous membrane features a curved network structure cavity extending through both surfaces, facilitating the release of sweat and moisture to keep the wearer dry. Typical moisture permeability is ≥6500g/m²・24h.
Comfort: The fabric possesses elasticity, with the antibacterial and antiviral protective outer layer exhibiting a warp elastic recovery rate of 5%-15% and a weft elastic recovery rate of 5%-20%. This ensures comfortable wear without hindering healthcare workers' normal activities. Additionally, it is lightweight, offering a significant weight advantage over comparable products.
Abrasion Resistance: The antimicrobial and antiviral protective outer layer provides excellent surface durability, withstanding moderate friction and pulling without tearing.
Antistatic Properties: Effectively controls surface charge density, typically ≤6.0μC/m², reducing static electricity generation and preventing dust or pathogen adhesion caused by static charge.
Advantages
Reusability: Unlike traditional disposable medical protective garments, certain medical graphene isolation gowns are reusable. Following relevant sterilization protocols—such as autoclaving at 121°C for 30 minutes under 102.8–122.9 kPa pressure—they maintain excellent performance after 10 reuses. They meet standards including water repellency ≥20 kPa, water resistance ≥Grade 3, and filtration efficiency ≥90%, significantly conserving resources and reducing healthcare costs.
Superior Protection: Not only does it isolate pathogens, but it also actively kills bacteria, effectively reducing the risk of infection for healthcare workers during diagnosis and treatment, providing more reliable protection.
Application Scenarios
Medical Institutions: Suitable for hospital outpatient departments, wards, operating rooms, laboratories, and other settings. Healthcare workers wear it when handling potentially infectious patient blood, bodily fluids, secretions, etc., providing barrier and protective functions.
Other Fields: Also suitable for isolation-requiring scenarios in cleanrooms, beauty salons, laboratories, electronics manufacturing, food processing, and similar industries.
