Kite originated in the Spring and Autumn Period of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, and is a handicraft made of bamboo strips, gauze strips, horse drawn paper, and thread. It has been over 2000 years since then. According to legend, Mozi made wooden birds from wood and developed them over three years, which is the earliest origin of human kites. Later, Lu Ban used bamboo to improve the material of Mo Zhai's kites. It was not until the Eastern Han Dynasty, when Cai Lun improved paper-making techniques, that people began to use paper to make kites, known as "paper kites".
During the Northern and Southern Dynasties, kites began to become a tool for transmitting information; Starting from the Sui and Tang dynasties, due to the development of the paper industry, people began to use paper to decorate kites; In the Song Dynasty, flying kites became a popular outdoor activity among people.
