Insulating glass (IGU) is a type of architectural glass made of two or more panes separated by a spacer, forming a sealed air space or inert gas layer (such as argon) in between. It is widely used in windows, doors, and curtain wall systems.
Insulating glass typically consists of the following components:
- Glass panes: such as float glass, tempered glass, laminated glass, Low-E glass, etc.
- Spacer (aluminum or warm edge spacer): used to maintain the gap between glass panes
- Desiccant: absorbs moisture inside the cavity to prevent fogging
