Qinghai Goji Berries, with Qaidam Goji Berries as the core variety, are the iconic specialty of the Qinghai Plateau. Renowned for their plump kernels, bright red color, high polysaccharide content and natural organic properties, they are a National Geographical Indication Protected Product.
I. Origin Environment: Pure Nourishment from the Roof of the World
They are mainly produced in the Qaidam Basin of Qinghai, including Dulan, Nomhon, Wulan and other regions, acclaimed as one of the world's four super clean areas, according to the Information Office of the People's Government of Qinghai Province.
- High altitude: Located at an altitude of 2,600 to 3,000 meters with strong ultraviolet radiation, resulting in extremely rare diseases and insect pests.
- Long daylight hours: Annual sunshine duration exceeds 3,000 hours, and the diurnal temperature difference reaches 15℃, which is conducive to the accumulation of sugar and nutrients.
- Pure water source: Irrigated by glacial meltwater from the Kunlun Mountains, with pure and pollution-free water quality.
- Primitive ecology: Featuring clean air and fertile soil, they are mostly cultivated organically with manual weeding, far away from industrial pollution.
- Appearance: Large and plump fruits, one-third bigger than ordinary goji berries, in dark red or bright red. They boast thick flesh, few seeds, natural luster, no caking and non-sticky texture.
- Taste: Sweet and mellow, with soft and thick flesh, high sweetness and no astringency.
- Nutrition: The content of the key active ingredient, goji polysaccharides, is as high as 5.38% to 6.79%, and the flavonoid content ranges from 0.96% to 1.34%, both outperforming those from other producing areas in China. They are also rich in carotene, vitamin C, 18 kinds of amino acids, zinc, iron and other trace elements.
- Traditional Chinese Medicine: Nourish the liver and kidney, replenish essence to improve eyesight, nourish blood and calm the nerves. Compendium of Materia Medica records: "Goji berries tonify the kidney, produce essence, nourish the liver, improve eyesight and prolong lifespan."
- Modern Health Benefits:
- Boost immunity: Goji polysaccharides regulate the immune system and enhance resistance.
- Protect eyesight: Carotene converts into vitamin A, relieving eye fatigue and dryness.
- Anti-oxidation and anti-aging: Eliminate free radicals and delay aging.
- Protect the liver: Assist in repairing liver damage, relieve fatigue and improve sleep quality.
- Dried goji berries: The most classic form, ready to eat without washing, suitable for making tea, soup and porridge.
- Goji puree/fresh juice: Cold-pressed from fresh fruits with zero additives, retaining complete nutrients and enabling easy absorption.
- Freeze-dried goji berries: Quick-frozen at -40℃ to lock in freshness, with a taste similar to fruit ice cream and minimal nutrient loss.
- Deep-processed products: Goji seed oil, goji fruit powder, goji fruit cakes, goji tea, etc.
- Direct chewing: The optimal way for nutrient absorption (10-20g per day).
- Infusion: Steep with warm water at 60-80℃, paired with chrysanthemum, red dates and astragalus.
- Culinary use: Added when cooking soup, stewing meat and making porridge.
- Pairing: Served with yogurt, cereals and salads.
