Product Advantages
1. Plan your design and decide how far apart to space the tacks. Most patterns look best with tacks touching or very close to each other, but gaps of up to an inch between tacks gives modern appeal to contemporary furniture.
2. Use a pencil to lightly trace your pattern onto the furniture. If you are adding a straight line of tacks, use a level for accuracy.
3. Start at the left edge of your design. Hold a tack in place with a long nose tweezers or pliers.
4. Gently tap the tack into the wood with a small mallet or a tack hammer. If you have neither, substitute by covering the head of a regular hammer with fabric to soften its blow. Hit the tack straight on to avoid bending the shaft. If the tack bends, remove it with the pliers and replace with a new tack.
5. Continue tapping the upholstery nails in place until your design is complete. Use a ruler to space the nails evenly.
