Automatic Carton Erector: Product Function Introduction
An Automatic Carton Erector, also known as an automatic carton opening machine, is a core piece of equipment in modern automated packaging lines. It is designed to automate the process of forming a shipping case from a flat corrugated cardboard blank, ready for product loading.
1. Core Function & Workflow Process
The machine automates the entire process, which can be broken down into several seamless steps:
· Automatic Carton Feeding: A large magazine holds a stack of flat, knocked-down (KD) corrugated cases. The machine automatically picks cases from the bottom of the magazine one by one for continuous operation.
· Case Picking & Opening: A vacuum suction cup system securely grabs a single flat case. The suction cups then move, pulling the case open and forming it into a rectangular shape.
· Bottom Folding: The opened case is conveyed to the next station. Guided by mechanical arms or ploughs, the machine precisely folds the minor and major bottom flaps into the correct position.
· Bottom Sealing: The machine seals the bottom of the case securely. This is achieved in one of two ways:
· Tape Sealing: Automatically dispenses a pre-set length of pressure-sensitive tape, applies it to the center and end seams of the case bottom, and cuts it.
· Hot Melt Sealing: Applies a precise bead of hot melt adhesive to the bottom flaps and presses them together for a strong bond.
· Discharge: The finished, open-top case is discharged via a conveyor belt, perfectly positioned for the next step in the line, such as automatic or manual product loading.
