Brass brad head finishing nails are normal all-purpose type of steel nail. It have a diamond style point and plain shank. Brad head finish nails have a small head, so that you can be punched below the timber surface and then after that filled. Finish nails are suitable and used for framing, planking, and cabinet work, and formwork construction.

Finishing nail is far more robust than common nails, and it is ideal for applications that require more strength and holding power. They’re especially good for things like doorway trim.
Finishing nail also have the advantage of length. It’s possible to hang paneling over drywall and hit the studs with a finish nail of an appropriate length. Finish nails do require some extra attention because they almost always leave a small visible dimple in the surface. A nail punch is usually needed to drive the nail head just below the surface to allow for concealment. While this extra step adds some difficulty, the finish nail remains the preferred choice for larger trim and woodworking projects.
